arte TV takes its 20th birthday to show a special program, which also includes re-airings of important films or series of the last years. Tonight the main program (will be repeated twice in november) was ‘Taxi to the Darkside‘ by Alex Gibney, a disturbing and important film, exploring the torture methods the world’s biggest democracy used in the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan.
The film explores in depth the methods and shows the inhumane conditions along the case of the taxi driver Dilawar from Afghanistan, who died innocently after being held 5 days in prison. (> read & watch more) |

The film won the “Best Documentary Award” at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007 and the “Best Documentary Feature” at the Academy Awards in 2008.
